The NSPT Story

North Shore Pediatric Therapy is established by Deborah Michael in Glenview with 500 square feet of space, no computer, no other employees, and no clients.

The warmly supportive and safe environment that Deborah establishes attracts two additional independent contractors to join her in the cramped space as the number of clients grows strong.

With success of the Glenview location, a second location is established in Highland Park, and speech therapy is added to the staff.

The Glenview location is doubled in space to accommodate the growth.

The Highland Park location is doubled in space to accommodate the growth, PT is added as the third discipline, and we have hired our first Family Child Advocate to answer incoming calls.

The Bucktown location is opened to reach more kids in the city, and Dr. David Michael becomes the first CEO in an effort to create a management and operational infrastructure.

The Glenview location is once again doubled in size to accommodate still more growth.

The Highland Park location is relocated to a new spot to over contiguous space and more convenience.

Applied Behavior Analysis is added to the breadth of services offered.

The Highland Park location is doubled in size to accommodate its growth, and nutrition is added as another specialty.  The first Branch Director position is created and filled.  Core ideology is established. All team meetings are established.  Org board and roles are defined.  Began theme days and social events.

Glenview location is increased by another 50% to accommodate administrative offices and neuropsychology.  The mentorship program is launched.  Daily huddles are instituted for managers.  First external newsletter is launched.

Social work is added as another discipline, and we become accredited for providing CE courses and credits.  Begin electronic submission of claims, though still out of network for all providers.  Our first formalized orientation and training course is developed.  The Highland Park location is redesigned.  Each location now has its own family child advocate.  Our admin internship program is launched.  Our charts are completely paperless.  Neuropsychology is added as another specialty.  We have taken care of 5,718 kids by the end of 2010 after eleven years of service.

The Bucktown clinic moves across the street into larger, renovated space.  The company transitions from a cash-only practice to accepting BlueCross BlueShield and select other networks.  The Fieldwork experience program is formalized. The first CE course for outside professionals is held.  The number of clients enrolling per month tripled from the beginning to the end of the year.

Largest growth year to date.

A CFO is added.  Fourth location is added in Des Plaines.  Administration is also relocated to Des Plaines.  Glenview location is remodeled.  Training department is established, as is the training classroom.  The insurance department is rebuilt as a result of going in-network.

Opened Evanston as our 5th clinic, implemented the new therapist incentive program, Gain Share incentive for all employees, Open Book Management, ABA electronic binders & Management Training Courses. Redesigned our logo and website, expanded our staff to 115 employees, and enhanced our Employee Mentorship Program. Promoted Maureen Evans to Director of Client Experience.

Opened Lincolnwood Clinic, Opened Lake Bluff and Des Plaines clinics. Expanded our in-school therapy program in Chicago. Customer Service Revolution, Created the NSPT Culture Video. Launched a new phone tree system to streamline calls and improve client experience. Created and filled the School Advocate role. Began offering Tele-Therapy Services. Hosted the first Blossom Ball!
