Abigail (Abbie) Hansell is a clinical fellow in speech language pathology (CFY-SLP) who recently completed her Master of Science degree in Speech, Language, and Learning at Northwestern University.
Between clinical work at Northwestern University and an externship at East Prairie School in Skokie, she has provided therapy to a variety of children with various needs, strengths, and disorders. With so many wonderful experiences with pediatric clients, it felt natural to work in a private pediatric clinic, like NSPT.
Abbie has always loved studying languages and working with people, which led her to study sociocultural linguistics, with some psychology, at University of California at Santa Barbara. While there, she happened upon the Speech and Hearing Sciences introductory course. She realized that going into speech pathology would allow her to work with language while helping people – a dream job!
Outside of speech pathology, Abbie has worked helping college and graduate students with disabilities, obtained a non-professional certification in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), and tutored international graduate students in English. She also worked at a residential school for deaf and hard of hearing children with multiple needs.
